I took time today to add a platform to the back of the GMC Canyon truck to store the hi-Lift Jack as well as the MAXTRAX Traction Mats.
This platform is contoured to fit the truck bed and is hinged for easy removal, installation and storage. Bolts with wingnuts hold the jack in place. Paint and padding to follow.

(Cold Food/Beverage Storage and Tool/Equipment Storage)Over the last few weeks I have been working on the front compartment on the Hiker Trailer.
The Hiker Trailer manufacturer mounted the Dometic fridge on the drivers side of the front box. I didn't specify which side but I had never seen it on any side other than the passenger side during my research. The Dometic fridge slide that it was mounted on did not slide out far enough for the fridge lid to open all the way and stay up by it's self. I ordered heavy duty slides (expensive) that locked open and closed, and allowed the fridge to pull out far enough so the lid opened fully and stayed open by it's self. (Note: Demetic Slide For Sale, LOL) I also changed sides so the fridge is accessible on the passenger side of the trailer. I constructed the slide mounts and the open bottom box for the fridge to sit in. The slide also allows me to mount my YETI 45 on it so I can use it when I don't need the 12 volt fridge. The YETI is normally carried in the back of the truck. The storage shelving includes a top shelf that runs the full length of the storage box and allows storage of longer items. The new shelving unit will allow access to my canvas storage bags without removing all of them to get to the bottom one as well as storage of the battery operated chainsaw. I took a little time today to use double sided tape and carpet to line the inside of the under floor storage in the Hiker Trailer. I have been storing my galley table in the under floor storage area and it has been getting scratched, so I have added carpet to help pad the area to protect the items stored there. It is time for a multi day trip......... |
AuthorSteve Chapman (68 yoa) Welcome to my Retirement Journal. A little about myself: I was married to my high school sweetheart for almost 29 years. I have been a widower since 2008.
I worked for the City of Chickasha for over 38 years and held a variety of jobs for them during that time. I retired as the Parks and Recreation Director on January 6, 2017. Now that I have retired I will be working on the many projects that I have been putting off. I will also be deciding where I will live in retirement. I am not sure I want to stay in Chickasha. I do plan on traveling and doing a lot of hiking, kayaking, backpacking, camping, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities as well as volunteer work during my retirement... ![]() New Hiking Buddy!
