First Project - New Storage Building (Start 10-22-2016 End 12-01-2016) Update: Project has been delayed a little. Proof that I am getting older - I pulled a chest muscle while handling sheets of plywood, by myself-of course. No more lifting plywood over my head to carry it. Life just keeps getting more and more interesting.... Nov. 9th - Started working on the building again. I will be taking it slow for a while. Added the two vents this morning. I will be working on the door over the next few days. Nov. 10th. Added the corner trim this morning. Nov. 18 - Built and installed door on new sliding tract system. Just need to finish trim, door lock and ramp. Finish will be Cedar wood stain. This project is finished. Problems with my spray rig caused me some problems with the finish but it is only a storage building, so it is what it is. I have finished the skirting with a clear water sealer just because I think it looks good. Now onto project #2... My version of a sliding door lock. The thumb knob on this lock is not accessible. The lock may only be operated by the key located on the front of the lock panel.

Today, Saturday October 22, 2016 is the first day of eleven (11) weeks of accumulated leave that I will be enjoying before my retirement!
Once my leave is used up, I will return to work to finish up anything they need, then I will announce my official retirement date. This transition is going to be tough.... I will be fighting the urge to sit at home and do nothing all day... |
AuthorSteve Chapman (68 yoa) Welcome to my Retirement Journal. A little about myself: I was married to my high school sweetheart for almost 29 years. I have been a widower since 2008.
I worked for the City of Chickasha for over 38 years and held a variety of jobs for them during that time. I retired as the Parks and Recreation Director on January 6, 2017. Now that I have retired I will be working on the many projects that I have been putting off. I will also be deciding where I will live in retirement. I am not sure I want to stay in Chickasha. I do plan on traveling and doing a lot of hiking, kayaking, backpacking, camping, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities as well as volunteer work during my retirement... ![]() New Hiking Buddy!
