When I purchased my home in 1992 the previous owner had replaced the drain lines. In doing so the plumber jack hammered the floor from the kitchen sink all the way through the garage. Basically cutting a third of the floor slab away from the rest of the house. I knew this was a problem but I never had an issue with it until the drought a few years ago. A crack opened up in the floor right down the repair.
Since we have been getting rain the floor went back together. I contacted a structural engineer and he designed a fix for me. A contractor has completed the repair which included saw cutting the floor to expose a 14-inch wide trench. The trench was back filled with sand and compacted. We then added a lot of #4 re-bar. 6-inches on center, epoxied 6-inched into the existing floor with 5 parallel runs of re-bar. We then poured 3,500 lbs concrete and finished it to the existing floor surface.

AuthorSteve Chapman (68 yoa) Welcome to my Retirement Journal. A little about myself: I was married to my high school sweetheart for almost 29 years. I have been a widower since 2008.
I worked for the City of Chickasha for over 38 years and held a variety of jobs for them during that time. I retired as the Parks and Recreation Director on January 6, 2017. Now that I have retired I will be working on the many projects that I have been putting off. I will also be deciding where I will live in retirement. I am not sure I want to stay in Chickasha. I do plan on traveling and doing a lot of hiking, kayaking, backpacking, camping, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities as well as volunteer work during my retirement... ![]() New Hiking Buddy!
